BECK

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Aug 24, 2011

9.50 (excellent) What is the factor of a good story? And the factor of a good anime?
Well, for me, characters' charisma is the most anticing side of anime and it's definately something the BECK is full of! Although the series is lacking of visual appearance (character idealising deform.) it actually helpes to make story more believable and characters closer to us, much easier to identify with. This is, not only in anime but in every other kind of storytelling, what determines its succes.
I've always loved music, especially rock music on which I grew but before watching Beck it was some time ago since I switched to something else. What Beck brought in to me was a total rock music renaissance of my life ^___^ ... along with a lesson of awareness and appreciation for classics of rock.
I have also a friend who was rather malcontent, comedy-liking, rap-listener that time and after watching Beck he desired to learn how to play the guitar!
This is what charisma means! As you can read, Beck is definalety worth seeing even if it doesn't concern your interests. It's one of the best anime ever and one of the best stories about music that were ever created!

Clannad

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Aug 24, 2011

8.00 (good) At first I found Clannad as a combination of Suzumiya Haruhi (same narration and Okazaki's merciless sense of humor) and Card Captor Sakura (character design). Soon it appeared to be very interesting combination of the best visual and content features.
It's a very well-done series! Nice chara design, complexed, carefully drawed backgrounds, accured colours and splendid animation! Rare to see characters spacing out just because they're not the main, speaking ones. Significantly excellent human movement observation provides biutifully detailed gesture animation.
The plot is as mysterious as intriguing! Scenario seems to be well-considered. It doen't concentrate on school life only but mostly shows the interactions between people.
The story develops along with the characters getting older and changing. The first season is very Suzumiya-like while the second, gets more and more serious describing the process of becoming an adult, growing to responsibility.
You can spend some great time watching Clannad - thanks to characters' marvelous jokes but after some time you may find yourself thinking that all your future life you imagined is just shallow. You can never know what hardships are awaiting for you and how many happy ending there will be.
Clannad is one of the best series of its genre combination (comedy, drama, slice of life, romance) and it's universal as it brings together some parts of all of them so everybody can find his thing in it.

Last Updated: Aug 16, 2010

5.75 (average) very baccano like look... after seeing the whole thing: the 1st half is definitely better, the 2nd, too many jumbleb plots and after that the end is so dull, too simple! some characters get too supernatural - it's so extraordinary that silly - i mean the reason of their personality transformation - ridiculous... in general - too complexed and going to nowhere, the character design sucks, the backgrounds sucks, pseudo russian is pity, i'm very disappointed... hoped for sth better
